Zimbabwe - President Mugabe looses Parliament

President Robert Mugabe's party, Zanu-Pf, obtains just 94 of the 210 available polls and is therefore beaten by the MDC-Tsvangirai party, led by the contender Morgan Tsvangirai, which gains 97 polls. For the first time, after 28 years from the declaration of independece of Southern Rhodesia, Mugabe's presidency is jeopardized. Though both factions declare their victory, the second turn of presidential elections will take place in three weeks, as none of the parties seems to have really reached the 50% + 1 threshold. In the next days, there will be a very tense climate, looking forward to understanding whether the 84-year old Mugabe will decide to take part to the second turn of elections. In the meanwhile, Mozambique and Zambia tighten control along their borders, fearing a burst of violence and the consequent exodus of DPs.
